Climate Resilience Asia Pacific Accelerator Program by Miller Center
For the past months, Yayasan Rumah Energi (YRE) had been actively participating in the “Climate Resilience Asia Pacific Accelerator Program”, a business acceleration and assistance program funded by Chevron and implemented by GSB, organized by the GSBI Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship. This program aimed to encourage innovative approaches, explore potential solutions that have an impact on economic development, especially to developing countries in the Asia Pacific region.
This program is aimed at non-profit, profit and hybrid entities that have a big vision of addressing social inequality through entrepreneurship in the fields of energy, water and Climate-Smart Agriculture. In this program, YRE was involved with participants from 6 other Asia Pacific countries, such as India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand, and Philippines.
Yayasan Rumah Energi, through its future business wing, plans to develop a bio-slurry business model in East Java by involving cooperatives as suppliers. Through the Climate Resilience Asia Pacific Accelerator Program, YRE re-examined the financial model and business model, developing it more maturely to the stage of expansion and readiness to involve investors, under the guidance of the GSBI Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship.
From the business model developed, it is expected that it will have an impact on increasing income up to a total of USD 504.000 per year for 4.000 biogas users, and reducing carbon emissions by 18.750 tCO2e from 3.000 units per year of new biodigesters built until 2026.
